Daniel Cartier @
The Cavern Club, Silverlake, CA.
The BiteMe! Squad had the pleasure of catching an intimate performance by New Hampshire’s own Daniel Cartier. Some may remember Daniel’s Live From New York- The Subway Session (Rocket Records). However, those days are long gone and now Daniel’s promoting his self-produced, self-funded, and self-released album Revival (Endurance Records), which is due out Sept. 21st.
The Cavern Club is nestled under the best Mexican restaurant in Silverlake. So, with margaritas in hand, J & I headed downstairs to catch Daniel’s set. Daniel’s quite an entertaining character. In fact, he’s somewhat of a modern day Morrissey. Armed with nothing but an acoustic guitar and a distortion petal, Daniel entertained the crowd with his eclectic numbers that ranged from grunge, to gospel, to blues, to pop. Daniel also mixes things up by throwing in a little humor in between songs, and his style of playing is anything but conventional. His full-throttle delivery may not be for everyone, but it takes a lot of guts to get up in front of a crowd and bare your soul. However, Daniel handles the pressure quite nicely. -NIN
