Bite Me! Show Orgy July 2003
So I saw a few good shows the past couple of months but, unfortunately, due to family emergencies, work & school trying to kill me, and other life interruptions I haven’t had time to hash out proper reviews, so here’s a brief run down.
Ministry reinvented the meaning of heavy and proved that they aren’t ready to throw in the towel just yet. All these bands whine about how they just want to be classified as heavy. Well trust me, when it comes to heavy there isn’t a band out there that can hold a candle to Ministry. These industrial metal vets deliver a live show that will peel the paint off the walls and leave your ears bleeding. The lovely Ms. Angie Jourgensen has assured me that band will be on tour well until year-end, so you owe it to yourself to experience the madness. Animositisomina is a great fuckin’ album and this is a great fuckin’ tour. Make sure you check out both. (p.s. J where da hell is my CD???) [I gave it back, beeyatch. And it's the best Ministry CD in years. –J]
Speaking of great fucking albums, Pigface is one tour in support of one of their most kick ass releases to date, Easy Listening. You want to have a good time, check out Pigface. It’s one big musical circus on stage. I don’t care how many times you’ve seen the band in the past this is the show to catch.
Zeromancer are heading back to the studio to work on their third album, but they managed to rock my world one more time before doing so. These guys are tight and they have the grooves to get the crowd moving, so I suggest putting them on your must see list.
I managed to catch Thrill Kill Kult and while I love these guys on vinyl, I’m less enthusiastic about seeing them in a live setting. I’d much rather dance to their music blasting from a turntable than from a marshal amp. To their credit, I have to say that the band didn’t bore me like they had once before; however, they didn’t particularly thrill me either.
The Revolution Smile polished up their chops at a sold out Troubadour show in preparation for this years Ozzfest. If you remember Far, then you’ll recognize vocalist Shaun Lopez (former Far guitarist). The Sacrament unit will be playing a few gigs with CKY before they head out with Ozzy & the gang, so catch them if you can.
That’s it for now. Have a great summer! And remember, life is too short to be desperate and stupid (a quote from J) [Who doesn’t listen to herself half the time, anyway, which really explains a lot if you think about it. -J].
