@ The Key Club, Hollywood, CA.
January 24th
Many a tear was shed when Club Make-Up announced they were bowing out gracefully. But, with a new year comes new resolutions and new beginnings. Which is why a couple of weeks into January an e-mail was circulated announcing the return of Make-up, for one night only, as the host of ‘The Psycho Sexual Ball’, and the main attraction was the most psycho sexual band of all time - - the Genitorturers.
On this special night The Key Club was transformed into a chamber of sin. Go-go dancers stripped and teased in the main room, while a sexy dominatrix cracked a few whips in the VIP room. This was the premiere place to witness the Genitorturers’ perverseness in all its full-blown glory. The Key Club’s intimate setting gave every one an up-close and personal view of the group’s eccentric performance.
Infamous for their bondage/S&M image the Genitorturers held nothing back. I have seen the band in action a number of times, but this exhibition topped them all. I guess you can get away with a lot more when the crowd is over 18. Every fetish was represented - ranging from full body suspension to 69 on a cross to urination to lollipop molestation…and in the heart of it all was the beautiful Gen – the exhibitionist ringleader. Domineering and downright sexy, Gen had the crowd eating out of the palm of her hand, while her bandmates kept the momentum flowing. Evil D and the boys pounded out one relentless industrialized tune after another. They played a number of favorites from their extensive repertoire and even threw in a couple of tracks from their last EP Flesh is the Law. (order your copy at www.genitorturers.com)
The Genitortures’ live show is as visually stimulating as it is aurally appealing. The group rocks you as hard as they shock and entertain you. Boredom is never an option. Every eye was glued to the stage and every ass was grooving to the music.
As I left that night, I thought how great it would be if Make-Up became a permanent fixture at the Key Club. Well, guess what? Two weeks later another e-mail made the rounds and it said that Make-Up had a new home…you guessed it…The Key Club. For more info visit www.thekeyclub.net -NIN
